Manchester United star moves to MLS

Sometimes even the greatest players fail to live up to expectations. When Manchester United signed Germany legend Bastian Schweinsteiger in 2015, it was thought that the International captain would dominate in the Premier League like he had for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga for the previous 13 years.

The midfielder however endured a torrid time in Manchester, firstly finding it difficult to adjust to the league and then being frozen out by United manager Jose Mourinho. His attitude at the club though meant that he had become somewhat of a cult hero to the Old Trafford faithful, with the fans chanting his name whenever they got a glimpse of the star ... even though behind the scenes he had been training with the U23's.

Today though it has been announced that his Premier League adventure is over with the news that Schweinsteiger has signed for Chicago Fire in the MLS, earning a reported $4.5million for one year as the clubs designated player.

Such was the esteem that the 32 year old, capped 121 times for his country, is held in Manchester you feel that today is a sad day for many fans of the Premier League club.
