Magpies set to miss out on highly rated Serbian defender

Newcastle look set to miss out in their bid to sign Partizan defender Nikola Milenkovic after Italian giants Fiorentina had a €4.4million bid for the 19 year old accepted.

The Centre-back, who has already made his debut for his national team, was high on Benitez' shopping list after impressing in the SuperLiga this season however it is believed that he was seen as more of a player for the future than a key member of the first team if Newcastle are promoted to the Premier League.

With the Magpies in pole position to earn automatic promotion, fans will be looking to the Spaniard to bring in experienced Premier League players to make sure that they can build on their current success next season.
