Liverpool and Spurs in for 'African Vardy'
It's a safe bet that from now on any player who once trialled as a 12 year old for a non league club and then goes on to play League football will be dubbed as the 'next Jamie Vardy'. The Leicester striker has given hope to all non league footballers and that can only be good for English Football.
It seems though that France and Portugal really has got a contender for the 'next Vardy' tag. Moussa Marega started his career in the amateur leagues in France and over a 5 year period has risen through the ranks to now playing for Porto in Portugal. Currently on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes, the Malian has been on fire this season scoring 11 goals in just 16 games and his incredible form has not gone unnoticed.
Porto knew they had unearthed someone special when they signed the 25 year old, as they had a €40million buy out clause put in to warn off any potential suiters.
However according to German daily Bild this has not put off Premier League giants Liverpool and Tottenham who both currently need a powerful striker to lead the line. With Daniel Sturridge possibly on his way to West Ham in the summer and Divock Origi not yet seen as the answer Marega fits the bill perfectly at Anfield, however with Tottenham seriously lacking in firepower without Harry Kane a goalscoring front man is high on their shopping list as well.
